As today’s technology and global risks race ahead of our understanding and stretch the boundaries of humanity, we face unprecedented ethical conundrums. Entrepreneurs have become critical stakeholders in solving today’s humanity-defining challenges. Entrepreneurs can be pivotal drivers of ethical progress when they integrate ethics into their thinking from the earliest stages of an idea throughout its journey—whether to becoming a world class company, a social enterprise, or the game-changing link in a chain to another great idea. Ethics & Entrepreneurs hosts conversations with some of the world’s leading entrepreneurs and participants and influencers in the entrepreneurial ecosystem. We explore how they understand and shape today’s ethical thinking through their creativity and commitment to progress.
I am immensely grateful to the entrepreneurs and influencers in the entrepreneurial ecosystem who have so generously joined this exploration of Ethics & Entrepreneurs. Their unique insights, creativity, and stories stretch our visions of technological and ethical possibilities. They also inspire us to probe our ethical discipline, creativity, and commitment.
These leaders reassure us that we don’t need to be a world famous entrepreneur to tackle ethical challenges with creativity, a positive attitude toward risk, and even technology.
But they all insist on our shared responsibility to define (and perhaps redefine) the boundaries and behaviors of humanity in today’s world of designer genetics and social media epidemics of fake news. They all agree that the ethics buck stops with each of us even if our refrigerators are “artificially intelligent” and our cars drive themselves. In sum, our ethics are not only universally pertinent and connecting, they also tether us to our humanity.
